Mikel Arteta is willing to help Yaya Toure earn his coaching badges at Arsenal.

The legendary former Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder is continuing to work towards his UEFA A-Licence after stints coaching in Ukraine and Russia with Olimpik Donetsk and Akhmat Grozny respectively.

Toure, who ended his illustrious playing career in 2020 after spells in Greece and China, has also spent time with QPR, Blackburn and the Welsh FA of late, while earlier this week it was confirmed that he would spend a couple of days a week working with Tottenham’s academy in Enfield after an induction day at Hotspur Way.

The 38-year-old currently lives with his family in Hampstead and Standard Sport understands he would be open to a more formal role with Spurs if the possibility arises.

However, a period learning at Arsenal - the club where older brother Kolo enjoys cult status - could also be on the cards in future, with Arteta receptive to the idea of working with Toure again after their paths previously crossed during the latter’s final years at City, where Arteta served as Pep Guardiola’s coaching protege.

“He has my number as we spent some years together, he is a player I appreciate a lot so he can call me and ask the question,” Arteta said of Toure ahead of his return to former club Everton on Monday night.

“He certainly has the experience and expertise, and has won a lot in the game to add value to the game for sure.”
