Yaya Toure makes retirement U-Turn after watching Man City win Premier League

Yaya Toure appeared to contradict suggestions that he has retired from football while he was working as a pundit for Sky Sports.

Toure's agent Dimitry Seluk said on Friday that the Ivory Coast legend was now going to focus on coaching and was finishing his career at current club Olympiakos.

However Toure, who watched his old side clinch the title with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Brighton , seemed to go against his agent by claiming he was planning to continue playing.

"Retired? Never. I will still keep playing," he said.

"There have been so many rumours about my future in football but it's time to make things clear.

"Football is something I cannot describe, I've been playing since I was young, and I will continue playing football.

"When it's time for me to retire, I will do it officially myself. Nobody else will speak on my behalf."

Toure certainly enjoyed his afternoon after he watched City, who he made 316 appearances for between 2010-2018, stroll to victory at Brighton to clinch a fourth Premier League title.

He was mobbed by the current squad of players at full-time and found himself immersed in the celebrations, with the team even going on to sing his famous 'Yaya, Yaya, Yaya' chant.

Whether Toure goes on to stay at Olympiakos or move on remains to be seen, but it certainly comes as a surprise that the 35-year-old is continuing to play.

He was recently linked with a return to the Premier League to join up with old manager Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United.

And he said at the end of the game: "I want to come back to the Premier League," which could spark rumours of a move to a top-flight club.

Toure has also played for the likes of Monaco and Barcelona in a glittering career.
