Yaya Toure gives verdict on Man City's defeat to Liverpool in Premier League title race

Ex-Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has deemed his former side's loss to Liverpool in the Premier League as an "injustice".

Liverpool opened the scoring through Fabinho in the first-half, just 22 seconds after Man City felt they should have been awarded a penalty following a handball by Trent Alexander-Arnold in the penalty area.

Mohamed Salah doubled the advantage shortly after with Sadio Mane scoring a header after half-time meaning Bernardo Silva's late goal was little more than a consolation.

Toure - who won three Premier League titles during his time with the Citizens - believes the referee's decisions influenced the result and questioned why the officials didn't use the pitchside monitor to review the key decisions.

"I have this sense of injustice for City," he told Premier League Productions.

"The penalty was a big call. Why do they have the screens if they don't use it?

"Of course it's difficult as it's sensitive - Liverpool are a big team in a big stadium.

"It was a great game but I'm disappointed as a City fan."

Toure believes that injuries have taken their toll on the squad.

The Ivorian believes it's difficult to say the title race is over and stated his hope that City can overturn the deficit to the league leaders.

He added: "This is the first year I've seen City with a lot of players injured.

"Leroy Sane, Ederson - they are great players and so important in this line up.

"I think it's quite hard to say the title is over - but I hope City will recover."
