Yate Shopping Centre: Huge 999 response including air ambulance explained

An air ambulance landed at Yate Shopping Centre as part of a major emergency service response yesterday (Wednesday, February 2).

The ambulance service sent multiple crews including the helicopter, two land ambulances and a hazardous area response team to deal with a medical incident at the shopping centre at about 3.14pm.

Police officers also attended the scene to assist the ambulance service, with a large number of emergency vehicles pictured outside the M&S Food Hall and Tesco.

An area was reportedly cordoned off by police, according to a witness who contacted Bristol Live.

South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust has now provided details about the nature of the call-out.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.14pm on Wednesday, February 2, to an incident in Yate.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a responding officer, a hazardous area response team, a critical care car and an air ambulance."

And a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said it was a medical-related incident and officers were there to assist the ambulance service.

No further information was provided about the medical incident.
