Yate house fire: Three rushed to hospital as 14 firefighters tackle blaze

Three people were rushed to hospital following a house fire in Yate this morning (July 7). Emergency services rushed to the scene in Moordell Close at around 6.30am.

The height of the blaze saw 14 Avon Fire and Rescue Service firefighters at the scene. Crews were deployed from Yate, Kingswood, Temple, Southmead, and Bedminster.

They used jets and high pressure hoses as well as breathing apparatus and a turntable ladder to extinguish the flames. It has been confirmed that three people were taken to Southmead Hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 06.31hrs to an incident in the Yates area. We sent two double-crew land ambulances, a hazardous area response team and rapid response vehicle. Three individuals was conveyed by land ambulances to Southmead Hospital.”

Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 6:27am on 7 July we were called to reports of a residential fire on Moordell Close in Yate. Crews from Yate, Kingswood, Temple, Southmead, and Bedminster were in attendance.

"14 firefighters wore breathing apparatus, crews used two jets and three high pressure to extinguish the fire. A turntable ladder was also in use.

"Five casualties were treated by Ambulance on the scene and handed over to paramedics. Crews also worked in partnership with the police on the scene."
