Yasiel Puig erupts after being hit by Chicago’s Pedro Strop

Benches cleared in the bottom of the eighth during Saturday’s Cubs-Reds game after Chicago pitcher Pedro Strop hit Yasiel Puig in the leg with a 3-0 pitch.

Puig still had his bat on his shoulder as Strop delivered the ball, and he began walking toward Strop and threw his helmet to the ground after being plunked. Puig was held back by Cubs catcher Willson Contreras.

The Cubs went on to win the game 6-0, and Strop later blamed the incident on Puig being “stupid as [expletive].”

Puig told reporters after the game that teammate Joey Votto advised him to remain focused on winning the series instead of fighting with another player.
