Yard Sale Pizza is offering a year’s free pizza to “Legends of Lockdown” – and they want you to nominate one.
The popular pizza purveyor will be giving out five of its coveted “Notorious YSP” cards to people who have gone the extra mile to help their communities during lockdown, entitling them to free pizza for an entire year across all five of its London locations.
Before they do, they’re asking members of the public to nominate an individual who deserves the prize. Anyone can be a candidate – from essential workers and NHS staff to someone who’s just been helpful, supportive and an "all-round awesome human being" during the lockdown – with nominations opening today for just one week.
Nominations can be made via the Yard Sale Pizza website until May 12, and five winners will be announced over five days starting from May 13.
Yard Sale Pizza has already been doing its bit to repay frontline workers, having spent the lockdown delivering free pizza to staff at NHS hospitals. The group has been asking customers to donate to a “Pizza Fund” on its website to help them continue the initiative, and has so far raised more than £15,000. Yard Sale Pizza is also still open to the public, offering collection and contactless delivery from all five of its east and north London locations.
The pizza favourites are among the many food and drink companies offering pay-it-forward schemes to allow customers to help out either those in need, or say thank you to front line workers.
Coffee company The Roasting Shed allows new subscribers to send a bag of coffee to an NHS worker, while Gipsy Hill Brewery is giving its customers the chance to buy an NHS staff member a pint at the checkout.
