Yard Act postpone Edinburgh tour date after singer struck down by 'sickness'

Yard Act have been forced to postpone the Edinburgh stop on their headline UK tour after frontman James Smith was struck down by illness.

The Yorkshire band issued an apology to fans who had bought tickets to the show at The Caves in the capital’s Cowgate on Wednesday evening, but promised the performance would be rescheduled.

The previous stop in Newcastle on Tuesday, March 1 had also been called off but dates in Glasgow and Dublin are still slated to go ahead.

The band are out on tour to celebrate the release of their critically acclaimed debut studio album ‘The Overload,’ which was released on January 21.

Ticket holders can also claim refunds from their point of purchase if they are unable to make the rescheduled shows.

Dates are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

In a statement, Smith said: "Afraid we are going to have to cancel Edinburgh tonight too.

"The sickness has slowed but I ain't held anything down in 3 days and I need to rebuild.

"I just ran up and down the stairs like a prat to test if I have the energy for a show and felt like I was gonna pass out.

"I'm so miserable about it all, but we will reschedule both shows ASAP and as it stands Glasgow and Dublin are looking very likely to happen.

"If you would rather a refund for Edinburgh please refer to point of purchase. Ta and sorry, James."
