Yannick Bolasie sends classy message to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk after injury

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has sent a classy message to Virgil van Dijk after the Liverpool defender's injury woe was confirmed.

The Dutchman will be out for an extended period of time after suffering ACL ligament damage.

It came as a result of a reckless challenge from Blues keeper Jordan Pickford during the 2-2 derby draw at Goodison Park yesterday.

Liverpool are not putting a time frame on Van Dijk's recovery but will monitor the situation after he has surgery.

Taking to Twitter tonight, Bolasie said: "I love banter/rivalry at the best of times - that’s what football is all about.

"[B]ut moments like these we have to set all aside & never wish badness on anyone.

"I’ve been through this myself so I know how he must be feeling right now.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery @VirgilvDijk".

Bolasie remains with Everton after an eleventh hour deal to take him to Middlesbrough on loan broke down on EFL deadline day.

On Friday, he addressed fans on social media following the unsuccessful negotiations.

Bolasie explained: "Disappointed the deal couldn't get done in time...signed & sent off, waited till 19.00 with real hope

“From my end I know I was willing to give up a lot...all I wanna do is say thank you to Neil Warnock (appreciate you so much) and wish Middlesbrough all the best this season.

“But now my focus is back on Everton & continuing to work hard everyday like I have been & if I’m called upon I’ll be ready to do whatever is necessary."
