Yannick Bolasie is expected to train with Everton's under-23s until a new club can be found for the winger.
The 31-year-old returned to Finch Farm this week having been denied access to the club's training base in the final part of the season on health and safety grounds.
Everton's u-23s began pre-season training on Monday and Bolasie, who has been eager to get fit for the new campaign, is set to continue working with David Unsworth's players while the Blues try and find a buyer, or a loan club, to take him next season.
The ECHO understands that Bolasie does not feature in Carlo Ancelotti's plans, despite the player's hopes of reviving his Everton career, and so will not be part of the first-team's pre-season training, which begins later this month.
Everton are ready to let Bolasie leave this summer but have yet to receive any suitable offers.
The £25m signing from Crystal Palace is into the final year of his £70,000-a-week Goodison contract.
And given the financial impact on clubs following the coronavirus crisis, Everton fear that Bolasie could be tough to move on.
Bolasie spent much of last term on loan at Sporting Lisbon but they passed up on the chance to sign him, for around £5m, at the end of the deal.
The transfer window opened last week and runs until October 5.
But Everton would still have until October 16 to do deals with EFL clubs.
