Yankees scouting Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer

The Yankees had a scout in Detroit to watch Michael Fulmer's start on Thursday, as earlier reported by the Detroit Free Press.

Fulmer allowed four runs on nine hits in eight innings, as the Tigers lost 4-2 to the A's.

The Yankees had been interested in the 25-year-old righty over the offseason. Fulmer has pitched to a 4.20 ERA in 16 starts this season.

Fulmer, currently making $575,000, is arbitration-eligible for the first time next season and doesn't become a free agent until 2023.

The Tigers pitcher, who was acquired by the organization in a 2015 trade with the Mets that sent Yoenis Cespedes to New York, was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2016 and an All Star last season.
