Yankees’ Luke Voit takes fastball to the mouth, stays in the game to score run

Yankees first baseman Luke Voit took a 91 mph fastball to the face on Saturday afternoon against the Colorado Rockies, and not only did Voit remain standing, he went on to score a run later in the inning as if nothing had happened.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis hit Voit with a pitch that clipped Voit’s shoulder and made contact with his lower lip. Voit took his base, made it to third on a single by Didi Gregorius, and was then driven in by Gleyber Torres.

Voit was then removed from the game as a precaution, according to the Yes Network, and passed concussion protocol testing.
