New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole traveled to Los Angeles on Wednesday to see specialist Dr. Neal ElAttrache for additional tests on his right elbow. Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated that there is currently no timetable for Cole's return, emphasizing the importance of gathering all necessary information before making any decisions.

Dr. ElAttrache, an expert on elbows and the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is conducting tests on Cole, who had previously undergone an MRI, X-rays, and a CT scan earlier in the week. Cole, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, has been a consistent presence in the Yankees' rotation, making at least 30 starts in each of the last six full regular seasons.

Boone expressed caution in speculating about Cole's situation, highlighting the need to remain flexible and adapt to new information as it becomes available. While discussions are ongoing regarding who will replace Cole in the season opener on March 28, pitcher Marcus Stroman is considered a top candidate.

Meanwhile, center fielder Aaron Judge, who recently had an MRI on his abdomen, is expected to return to play on Saturday. Judge had been experiencing discomfort during his swing's follow-through and has been receiving treatment to prevent any potential issues from escalating. Despite missing 42 games last season due to a toe injury, Judge has been diligent in his offseason training and is eager to resume batting practice this week.

As the Yankees navigate these early-season challenges, the team remains focused on gathering information and making informed decisions to ensure the health and well-being of their players. With key players like Cole and Judge facing health concerns, the team is prioritizing caution and thorough evaluation to set a course for a successful season ahead.
