Yankees game vs. Angels postponed, Subway Series up next

NEW YORK — The Yankees received some rest heading into the Subway Series.

Their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels that was scheduled for Thursday was postponed because of inclement weather. It will be made up Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.

Fans with tickets for Thursday's game can use them for the rescheduled date, or exchange them for a similar game at the Stadium subject to availability.

Now the Yankees will face the crosstown rival Mets for a three-game set in the Bronx.

Jordan Montgomery (3-2, 4.06 ERA), who was scheduled to be on the mound Thursday, will start Friday's series opener, while Gerrit Cole (8-4, 2.66 ERA) will start Saturday.

The Yankees have not yet announced who will start Sunday.

Montgomery will be trying to help the Yankees bounce back from Wednesday's disastrous loss to the Angels, when L.A. scored seven runs in the ninth inning to win, 11-8.
