NEW YORK — Hank Steinbrenner, the Yankees general partner and co-chairperson, has passed away at age 63.

The eldest son of the late George Steinbrenner and brother of Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner, Hank Steinbrenner died early Tuesday morning in Clearwater, Florida, after a lengthy illness not believed to be related to COVID-19.

The New York Post was first to report the passing of Hank Steinbrenner, who’d been an increasingly distant presence around Yankees.

This was to be Steinbrenner’s 14th season with the title of Yankees general partner. He was greatly involved in Hank’s Yanks, a travel baseball team designed to benefit inner city youth.
