Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman tests positive for coronavirus, won't be with team for 'foreseeable future'

NEW YORK _ The Yankees will be without their top relief arm for "the foreseeable future" due to the coronavirus.

Aaron Boone announced that Aroldis Chapman tested positive for COVID-19 and has "mild symptoms."

Boone doesn't believe his flame-throwing closer has spread the virus elsewhere.

"Right now we feel like we're doing a good job of managing," the manager said. "We've done all our contact tracing and all our protocol."

Chapman is the third confirmed positive case among Yankees players. Fellow 2019 All-Star DJ LeMahieu tested positive during the team's intake screening, as did swingman Luis Cessa.
