Yankees battle to the end again, but drop series finale at Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA Keeping with a trend, manager Aaron Boone trotted out another unique Yankees lineup Thursday.

Missing from the order were Aaron Judge, MLB's 2020 leader in homers and RBI, and DJ LeMahieu, owner of the league's third-highest batting average.

Pinch-hitting with the tying run on second, Judge was struck out by Phillies closer Hector Neris to end the eighth inning.

With two out, LeMahieu kept hope alive with a pinch-hit single and Mike Tauchman singled before Neris closed out a 5-4 Phillies win at Citizens Bank Park.

Luke Voit skied out to the right-center field warning track to end it.
