OAKLAND, Calif. _ Aaron Judge has resumed swinging a bat.
Nearly six weeks after suffering a chip fracture of his right wrist, the Yankees' slugging right fielder began hitting off a tee on Monday morning.
"Definitely a big step. (I'm) excited about the progress I'm making so far," Judge said at the Coliseum, before the Yankees opened a three-game series against the contending Oakland Athletics.
And other than some normal soreness, Judge said the wrist felt fine.
"That was a good sign, I really didn't feel too much of anything," said Judge, who is also increasing his throwing.
There's still no concrete timetable for Judge's return from the disabled list.
"Hopefully, things keep moving in the right direction," said Judge, who'll eventually progress from tee work to introducing soft toss, hitting in the cage, hitting on the field and then hitting live pitching _ possibly in a simulated setting.
Judge took 25 dry swings and made 25 more swings off the tee.
"I was feeling good, I tried to just do my normal routine," Judge said of arriving at his decision to resume swinging on Monday. "I didn't want to take anything at 50 percent ... and it felt great.
"We'll see how it feels in the morning (on Tuesday)."
