If there's one thing that riders love as much or more than our motorbikes, it's our pets. I feel confident in saying this, because it seems to be true across the board. Maybe it's pure anecdata, but every single person I've met who's into both their pet (no matter what type of pet) and their motorbike, the level of devotion seems to be pretty similar.
There's pretty much nothing we wouldn't do for them, right?
Now, I've personally been a person who does crafts for most of my life. My grandma first got me into them when I was a kid, and I basically never stopped. I eventually taught myself to knit (my grandma was crochet-only, at least, as far as I knew), as well as do other things including needle felting. They're things I tend to do in the winter, when it's cold, but they're things I enjoy all the same. So you can bet that Yamaha's introduction of projects like the R1M muffler, R1M brake caliper smartphone holder, and even that COVID-era banger, the R1M face mask, absolutely delighted the likes of ... well ... me.
I'm the Venn diagram where all these interests meet, you see. And now, Yamaha's only gone and done it again.
To be fair, they never really stopped; if you visit Yamaha's official global amigurumi crafts page, you'll find a host of Yamaha product-based craft patterns available. From an Outboard P-7 pillow to a YMR-08 industrial drone cushion (no, really), it seems that Yamaha loves keeping its craft designers busy figuring out how best to render their products in the most pleasing combination of soft and cuddly fibers. And to be honest, I'm here for it.
That's why I may possibly have audibly squeaked when I first saw Yamaha's newest amigurumi creation, the Tricity 300 Tire Pet Bed. It's modeled adorably by a very cute cat in the photos, but since it's life-sized (Yamaha specifically states this on its project page), there's no reason that it couldn't work just as well for your dog. It'd have to be a small dog, though; the Tricity 300 only has 14-inch wheels, so you'd have to size up to make it fit larger pets.
If you're also a person who's into fiber crafts, then you'll appreciate the fact that Yamaha tends to be pretty thoughtful when it comes to laying out both instructions and supplemental materials to help you complete its projects. This Tricity 300 Tire Pet Bed, like its other projects, requires you to make a number of pieces, and they have very specific shapes (of course). Rather helpfully, Yamaha includes videos to show you how to make each different piece, from the wheel center cap to the brake disc.
Honestly, if you're looking for something cozy to occupy your time while you're not riding, and you have some excellent furry friends in your life, this might be a really fun way to show them you love them.
