Extended warranties, in particular, go a long way in building trust. And when a brand like Yamaha, which is arguably already one of the most trusted names in the game, goes all in with a 10-year warranty, it doesn’t just boost confidence. It shows a deep commitment to reliability, longevity, and peace of mind. Especially in a market like India, where harsh climates and rough roads are just part of the ride.
So here’s the deal: Yamaha India’s new “Total Warranty” program now covers its entire scooter and motorcycle range with 10 years of warranty protection: 2 years standard, and 8 years extended. This includes key components like the engine, fuel injection system, and electricals. Scooters such as the Ray ZR Fi, Fascino 125 Fi, and Aerox 155 S are covered for up to 62,000 miles, while bikes like the FZ series, R15, and MT-15 are backed for up to 78,000 miles.
And it gets better: the warranty is fully transferable to new owners, adding serious value to the resale equation. For now, the program is being offered completely free of charge, though Yamaha says that’s only for a limited time. After that, it’ll be available at a “nominal cost.”
“This initiative aims to provide customers with greater assurance, long-term dependability, and enhanced value throughout their ownership experience,” Yamaha said in an official statement.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just about protection. It’s about confidence. About knowing your machine can take on whatever the road throws at it, day in, day out, for the next decade.
Now, here’s an interesting comparison: Yamaha motorcycles in the US come with just a one-year standard warranty. Riders can opt for extended coverage through Yamaha Extended Service (Y.E.S.), which pushes the total coverage to a maximum of five years. That’s still only half of what’s being offered in India today.
So it begs the question: would it be worthwhile for Yamaha—or any other motorcycle or powersports brand—to start offering decade-long warranties in the US or other markets? Sure, it would come at a cost. But in a time when reliability, peace of mind, and long-term value matter more than ever, maybe that’s exactly the kind of bold move buyers are looking for.
