‘Yall bullied that man!’: Chick-fil-A customers say worker ‘traumatized’ them over sauce. Viewers are on his side

An altercation between a Chick-fil-A worker and two customers who say he “traumatized” them over sauce has set the internet aflame.

Devoria (@devoria) posted the incident on TikTok earlier this week. “Is Chick-fil-A the new house of horror?!!!!” the text overlay reads.

“Chick-fil-A, all we wanted was sauce, but instead got TRAUMATIZED!!” Devoria captions it.

Though Devoria maintains they did nothing wrong, people are largely lining up behind the Chick-fil-A worker.

Now the two women are being called bullies and accused of provoking the worker by making fun of his appearance. Devoria is separately being accused of twisting the facts to earn sympathy.

Trouble at the Chick-fil-A

Devoria says it began when they asked for more sauce. Her friend, she says, went to hand one back and the worker “snatched” it out of her hand and threw it away.

Video of the aftermath shows the Chick-fil-A worker in question coming outside an unidentified location as they’re sitting in the car, recording.

“[He] snatched the sauce out of my hand and hurried up and threw it in the trash,” one says.

The man explains that he had to throw it away because she touched it. Others in comments and stitches have confirmed that Chick-fil-A policy requires employees to throw away anything a customer touches. Wrapped straws, unopened sauces, clean napkins: It all goes in the trash.

One of the women tells him to “calm down.” She confirms that his name is Cameron, possibly for purposes of the recording.

Then the woman says, “Doesn’t he look like Jeffrey Dahmer?”

Dahmer was a serial killer who was convicted of killing 17 men and boys. He died in prison.

Like Cameron, Dahmer had blonde hair and wore glasses.

After being told he looks like the notorious murderer, Cameron replies, “Have a great day.”

He adds, “I will call the police for you if you do not leave. We’re not going to be insulting the way I look.” His voice rising, he repeats, “Have a great day,” and goes inside.

As he speaks, one of the women says, “Boy get out, go, yeah.”

After he heads inside, the other jokes, “Forget him. Look at him. Can’t even slam the door.”

An avalanche of reactions

The post spread like wildfire on TikTok. As of this writing, one on Devoria’s account has 5 million views.

Most people are taking Cameron’s side. His defenders insist he was calm and professional until they called him Jeffrey Dahmer.

“Exactly. They provoked him, which caused him to get out of character and it’s so sad because no one deserves to be called names, especially when they’re just trying to do their job,” one person commented on a stitch of Devoria’s post.

To many, suggesting the man looks like the killer was a bridge too far.

“No, y’all were dead wrong for calling him that. This is why it’s important to see the full clip,” said one.

(Although Devoria appears to have deleted part of the interaction, another TikToker saved and reposted it. She also disabled comments on the remaining post.)

“Ok I was on they side at first, but nahhhh they was wrong,” another said. “His name is Cameron. Why call him Jeffery Dahmer?”

After the post went viral, Devoria posted a 10-minute storytime explaining their side. She maintains that they are the victims.

“We were not being aggressive to him, we were not being rude to him, we did not say anything wrong,” she says.

A few people agree that Cameron was out of line. Others aren’t so sure.

“She gaslighting I h8 that for us bc he didnt even get upset till they called him a murderer ?” wrote one.

Devoria, who has since turned off comments on the storytime post, did not respond to an inquiry sent via TikTok direct message. Chick-fil-A did not respond to an email sent Wednesday morning.
