Yale’s NCAA tournament loss had Twitter joking about the college bribery scandal

Notable elite institution of higher learning, Yale, lost to SEC foe LSU in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.

Every time an Ivy League school competes against a Power 5 opponent, there’s always jokes about how a bunch of nerds are competing in sports against NBA-caliber athletes. But this year was different. Yale, as you’ve probably heard, was connected to the recent college bribery scandal that led to dozens of federal indictments.

Former Yale soccer coach Rudy Meredith allegedly solicited a $400,000 bribe to get an applicant into Yale. You know, normal stuff.

So, when Yale lost to LSU — a school with its own FBI issues — plenty of fans mocked Yale for the admissions scandal.

Basketball Twitter never fails.
