Yahoo Sports analyst expecting a breakout season from Leonard Fournette

The upcoming season is a huge one for Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette as most would agree that his career with the team is on the line. As a result, it could also be the year he proves to be worthy of the No. 4 selection in the 2017 NFL Draft as many fans have questioned the selection up to this point.

Count Yahoo Sports’ Frank Schwab as one of the nation’s analysts who believes 2019 will be the year Fournette finally breaks out as a fantasy star as the conditions around him are now much better. In a recent article, Schwab stated that Fournette is set to flourish with his offensive line now healthier and a new quarterback in Nick Foles, who should take the pressure off Fournette as the offense’s No. 1 option.

Schwab makes valid points about Fournette because new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo has already stated that the offense will go through the third-year tailback. DeFilippo has also shown the ability to put together a potent passing game in the past, which should help keep opponents off balance and make Fournette’s job as a rusher significantly easier.

If the offensive unit and Fournette can stay healthy, the pieces are in place to be more along the lines of what they were in 2017, when they were the No. 1 rushing team in the NFL. It’s probably unrealistic to think Fournette will play all 16 regular season games, but if he can manage to play in 13, approximately 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns should be in reach for young tailback.
