Yadier Molina’s epic bat flip ended up in the outfield after his walk-off sac fly

Yadier Molina’s bat flip may have been more electric than his walk-off sac-fly in the 10th inning of the St. Louis Cardinals’ 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the National League Division Series.

And that’s not to say the game-winning hit wasn’t exciting. It was. But the bat flip was awesome.

Molina hit the ball into deep left field, and the Cardinals’ Kolten Wong, who was on third base, beat outfielder Adam Duvall’s throw to home for the game-winning run, which tied the series, 2-2. With the run scored, the catcher rounded first and hucked his bat into the outfield. His teammates stormed the field and swarmed Molina.

He finished the night 1-of-4 with two RBIs. Per MLB stats, Molina is now tied with Robinson Cano for sixth among active players with 33 postseason RBI. Molina also ranks third in Cardinals history behind Albert Pujols (52) and Jim Edmonds (41).

Here’s a look at the walk-off sac-fly in its entirety.

For those out there shaking their heads at the indignity of Molina’s behavior, you should know that this bat flip was justified — and glorious.
