An Oregon woman was astonished to find a pair of Nike joggers at Goodwill for $39.99. “Let me show you real quick how Goodwill has lost their minds,” said Courtney Knight (@courtneyrenee.k). She posted the clip to her platform, garnering 457,000 views in the span of four days.
To many commenters, the price was outrageous. Especially considering the fact that Knight would be purchasing a used pair of joggers. Buying the joggers at Goodwill is only around 33% cheaper, something that baffled many consumers who used to shop regularly at Goodwill.
How much do Nike Joggers normally cost?
A pair of Nike joggers sells for around $60, regardless of gender.
Sometimes, though, Nike joggers go on sale at select stores. As of November 2025, Champs Sports has a sale on Nike joggers for $49.99. Some commenters also claimed that Nike joggers regularly go on sale at places like T.J. Maxx. Nike also has select joggers on sale for as little as $36.97 without including shipping fees. That means Nike’s own sales are less than some regional Goodwill’s prices.
Goodwill’s pricing—fair considering the service they provide?
When a representative from the nonprofit replied to a request for comment on a story published in October 2025, they stated, “Goodwill stores sell donated goods so they can use the revenue to provide people in their local area with free job training, career placement services and other human services that can help them build skills and advance in their careers or other life circumstances. For that reason, when a store receives donations, they work to set a price that reflects fair market value for their local community while also making the most of the donated item’s value. The more funds a store is able to drive, the more they are able to assist people who are in need of job training and other support services, all at no cost to them.”
Many people treat Goodwill stores like an everyday thrift, expecting accessible goods and services. But considering their job training initiatives, is it fair to place the same pricing expectations on the stores?
To many viewers, commenters, and shoppers, the answer’s still no.
Generally, people expect prices to be at least slightly below the market price or the fair market price. As one commenter pointed out, there are stores that sell Nike joggers for less than the prices currently listed at Goodwill.
Goodwill even has a fair market value calculator to determine how donors should evaulate the prices of their donations. If the Oregon store used Goodwill’s own fair market value calculator, the joggers would cost $12-$18. Based on the representative’s comment, items should be priced around fair market value.
“You can report them to the IRS, Goodwill is a nonprofit and they [need to] act like a nonprofit,” said one commenter.
While we haven’t heard of anyone reporting Goodwill to the IRS, we’ve definitely seen a line of complaints on TikTok.
