Xpose star Cassie Stokes says she became a workaholic to mend her broken heart after split from girlfriend

Xpose star Cassie Stokes told how she has thrown herself into her work to mend her broken heart.

She also admitted “the pressure is on” to create the best content amid the recent schedule cuts to the show.

Last month Virgin Media announced Xpose, which previously aired three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Virgin Media Two would be moving to Virgin Media One, for a one Friday night special.

Speaking to Irish Daily Mirror after the changes were implemented, Cassie said: “It’s really good. We launched last Friday and the hour show did amazing, the content was so cool, we had Mary Kennedy and Gary Barlow so what better show to tune into?

“But the pressure is on to get the best content.. but I get to work on some of my own pieces now.”

When asked if she was worried about the future of the show when she heard the news, she told: “I’m all for change. I think change is always a positive thing no matter, but it just depends on how you take change.

“I think this was incredible and we went back on to the bigger channel. We are on it for an hour.

“So we doubled the length and we are on a bigger channel and the Six O’Clock show audience is a brilliant time slot to get, right after the news so you know it used to be at six o’clock about two years ago.

“And you know you watch the news, and then you watch your entertainment and stuff like that.”

Earlier this year, the 32-year-old confirmed she and her partner, Kathleen Gauvin had called it quits on their relationship after almost six years of dating between Canada and Dublin.

But working at the helm of the entertainment show for much of the last year during her colleagues Karen Koster and Glenda Gilson’s maternity leave, Cassie credits her busy work schedule for getting her through the sadness.

She said: “Yeah it is always good to have that, of course.

“You know, and I think everyone knows, when you are sad you want to just work work work and keep yourself busy with everything and jeez I’ve done so much over the past with work and events and stuff like that.

“So it’s keeping yourself busy and getting into that mentality of not thinking about it.”

And referring to her extra responsibility, she added: “I’ve really enjoyed it. So yeah, I’ve loved every second.

“I loved studio time and I love meeting lots of different people, I’ve got to do some incredible interviews.

“I mean I started working three years ago, and this year, because the two girls have been off and pregnant, it has been like an amazing experience in that you are doing everything,

“But also you have Remy and Nadine who have been absolutely incredible and playing an absolute blinder."
