Chinese handset-maker Xiaomi on Monday launched a new budget smartphone -- the Redmi 4A -- at a price of Rs 5,999 to take on rivals such as Samsung, Gionee and Micromax in the budget segment.

The dual-SIM 4G-LTE device, that comes with IR blaster (an infrared tech that can replace remotes of several devices such as TVs, ACs among others), will run on new MIUI 8 with Android Marshmallow at the base.

The phone will be available in an all new Rose Gold colour alongside three regular colour variants 12pm on March 23, and will be available on both Amazon India and Mi.com. The Rose Gold model will go on sale on April 6, only on Mi.com.
