Xherdan Shaqiri has not taken long to send a message to fans following the confirmation of his move to Lyon.
The 29-year-old was a vital squad member for Jurgen Klopp during the club’s recent successes, but has moved on after seeing his playing time diminish at Anfield.
Diogo Jota’s arrival at the Reds in 2020 saw Shaqiri limited to just three substitute league appearances by the end of December last season, before an injury to the Portuguese forward saw him handed an extended run in the team.
Having arrived in France following his £9.5m deal, Shaqiri has posted “I am Lyonnais! Go @OL” on Twitter, showing he is looking forward to his new challenge.

He joined Liverpool for £13.5m from Stoke in 2018 and has demonstrated his big-game quality on several occasions throughout his three years at the club.
