Having missed out on winning the Premier League title, Xherdan Shaqiri is determined to finish his first season at Liverpool as a Champions League winner.
The Swiss playmaker has endured a mixed first campaign on Merseyside, enjoying memorable moments such a decisive brace against Manchester United and setting up Gini Wijnaldum 's equaliser against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, but finding himself out of favour during the season half of the season.
Limited to just 15 starts in all competitions, the 27-year-old has been linked with a potential summer departure.
However, having beaten Jurgen Klopp 's Borussia Dortmund to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2013, Shaqiri has revealed how much he wants to win the trophy for Liverpool 's fans and for his manager.
“I think we had a great season and there is one big final ahead of us,” he told talkSPORT . “We’ll try everything to win this title because the club deserves it, the fans deserve it and the players deserve it. It’ll be a really special thing if we win it.
“Tottenham is a top team. They showed the world how good they are.
“It’ll be a difficult game, but we’re confident. It’s only 90 minutes and anything can happen.
“We’re very well prepared and we’ll try everything to win this game.”
He continued: “I want this emotional thing again. Especially for this club because they’re waiting a long time to win it.
“He (Klopp) is always relaxed. We are always having fun during and after training. He’s a positive person.
“He does everything for us and we give everything for him. We want to win it for him.”
