Xherdan Shaqiri names Liverpool's biggest strength before Champions League final

Xherdan Shaqiri has saluted the team spirit of Liverpool ahead of the Reds' second Champions League final in two years.

Jurgen Klopp's side will take on Premier League rivals Tottenham in Madrid on June 1, after their remarkable 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the second leg of their semi-final at Anfield secured a 4-3 aggregate win.

Shaqiri made his first Reds start since January in that game, with the Swiss and forward Divock Origi coming in for the absent Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Origi scored two of Liverpool's goals including the all important fourth, while Shaqiri teed up the third goal with a fine cross which was headed in by substitute Gini Wijnaldum.

And the former Stoke man says that the display of some of the club's lesser lights proves just how together the club currently is as they bid to go one better than their defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev last year.

"This is the most important thing for a big group, to have togetherness," Shaqiri told Liverpool's official website from the club's pre-Champions League final training camp in Marbella.

"Altogether, we can achieve a lot - and we saw that in the games, especially against Barcelona .

"We had a few players who didn’t play, so we showed our togetherness is very strong. That’s very important to have always, especially for this game coming up too.

"It’s always good to go to a training camp altogether, to stay all day together, to enjoy the sun, to train hard and for the group, it’s always important to stay together.

"It gives you strength for the coming days and hopefully for the game."

Liverpool are looking to arrange a behind-closed-doors friendly during their time away, but have so far been unable to find an opponent.
