'Xhaka gets sent-off for less!' - Arsenal fans fume over James Maddison's tackle on Reece James

Leicester City and Chelsea have been in Premier League action this afternoon.

Both clubs are in the race for a top-four finish, but that's not why some Arsenal supporters were tuning into events from the King Power Stadium in the day's early kick-off.

The big incident of the game came in the second half when James Maddison was booked for a strong tackle on Blues wonderkid Reece James.

Even with a VAR review, the Foxes midfielder avoided being given his marching orders despite no attempt to play the ball as well as raking his studs straight down James' Achilles.

The tackle brought back memories of what Granit Xhaka did in a home win over Swansea City back in the 2016/2017 season.

On that occasion, the midfielder was given a straight red card.

This has prompted a massive reaction from Gunners supporters on social media, with some asking why the England international didn't receive the same punishment as Xhaka.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

Speaking about that incident, ex-Premier League official Dermot Gallagher explained why Xhaka deserved a red card.

"For me, this is the most interesting decision of the weekend because, hand on heart, my immediate thought was that this was a yellow card," he told Sky Sports in October 2016.

"But having seen it again it is a red card.

"The reason for that is because the player has no intention whatsoever to play the ball, he can't play the ball and his sole intention is to bring the man down.

"Barrow took no further part in the game after the challenge so for me it ticked all the boxes for a red card.
