XFL ticket prices were costlier than some Redskins games last season

The Washington Redskins had some serious attendance problems last year that weren’t exclusive to 2019, so it was only a matter of time before some XFL comparisons popped up.

The Pep Hamilton-led DC Defenders just took part in the XFL’s debut weekend and reports of ticket prices have led to some interesting comparisons.

According to Nick Boykin WUSA9, some Redskins tickets were going for as low as $4 last season, while the Defenders game just had tickets for as low as $24 to upwards of the $200 range.

Granted, the Defenders game only had a reported attendance of around 17,000. And we’ll have to see if the team can keep fan interest at that level or better for the duration of the debut season.

But other football drawing attention in the local area has been a problem for the Redskins after years of serious attendance issues, including ranking third-worst in percentage this past year alongside Cincinnati and Tampa Bay in the cellar.
