XFL Summer Showcase combine coming to Seattle in June

A new professional football league is headed to Seattle as the XFL is set to debut in the Emerald City in 2020.

New York, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Washington, D.C., have also been awarded teams in the league, a reboot of an operation that previously existed for one season in 2001.

But before the league kicks off, the XFL will be holding a series of Summer Showcase combine events throughout June and July to find potential talent for the eight rosters.

According to a tweet from the XFL, the Summer Showcase will feature “innovative combine testing,” football-specific drills and verified measurement opportunities.

The Summer Showcase will be held in Seattle on June 22.

The Seattle team will play its games at CenturyLink Field, home of the Seahawks and Sounders FC of Major League Soccer.

Former Seahawks quarterback Jim Zorn has been named the general manager and head coach.

The XFL recently signed multi-year agreements with ESPN and Fox Sports to televise the games.
