Xbox Series S price drops for the holiday – but here's how to bag an extra saving

If you've yet to upgrade to the next generation of consoles then you can pick up the Xbox Series S for less than £200 right now.

Microsoft announced an Xbox Series S price cut for Black Friday across all regions last month, bringing the price down from £249.99 / $299 / AU$499 to £190 / $249 / AU$$399. Although the discount was only supposed to last for the duration of the sales, it seems we're getting another one that'll apparently last for a few more weeks.

The Xbox Series S is currently retailing for £199 in the UK, with multiple news outlets reporting that the price will last until Christmas Eve. But there's an extra saving to be had at Currys where you can pick up the Xbox Series S for just £194 by using code "FNDDGAMING" at checkout (via Eurogamer). It clocks in at £199 without the discount code, so you're getting an extra £5 off, bringing the price closer to that of Black Friday.

According to VGC, the Christmas Xbox Series S price cut is also happening in the US, with the site stating we'll see the the console drop down to $199.99. Although it's worth nothing that Microsoft hasn't officially confirmed any of this yet. We've reached out and will update this story if we get any further updates.

The US price cut doesn't seem to have taken effect just yet, but the Black Friday price is still present at some retailers. Over on the US Microsoft Store you can actually buy the Xbox Series S for $239.99, saving an extra $10 on top of the original $50 discount.

Retailers like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy are all selling the console for its standard price, but it might be that we see a staggered, regional rollout of the alleged Christmas price cut. We're not seeing any discounts in Australia yet either, but they may still be on the way so we will be keeping an eye on the Aussie Microsoft Store as well as other retailers.

The sale price is a great bargain – and isn't that far off the lowest-ever Black Friday reduction. But you can potentially save yourself some more money by picking up the Xbox Game Pass along with the Xbox Series S. Especially in the wake of Microsoft announcing a price hike for its first-party games starting next year (via IGN)

The subscription starts from $9.99 / £7.99 / AU$10.95 per month and lets you play Xbox Game Studios titles the same day as release, as well as allowing you to access a huge library of games.
