A new Xbox One console is expected to be announced imminently – and will be missing one important feature.
The console is rumoured to be called the Xbox One S All Digital, and comes without a disc drive. As such, games can only be played by downloading them, and Blu-Rays won't be able to be played.
In return for that missing disc drive, the console is rumoured to be cheaper than its almost identical twin. Rumours suggest that it could cost about £200 – about £50 cheaper than the full-fledged version of the Xbox One S.
Microsoft is rumoured to be announcing the console in the coming days, with availability weeks after that. But it has already been liked in detail ahead of the launch.
Pictures shared by a rumours website Winfuture suggest that the new version of the console will look like the old one – apart from with a big white block where space for the disc to be inserted would usually be seen.
The Xbox One S All Digital has been heavily rumoured for some time. It comes as Microsoft looks to move away from physical discs, with new services like the Xbox Game Pass that allows people access to a library of various games in exchange for a monthly subscription.
Microsoft have even suggested it could move from consoles playing games themselves at all. Late last year, it revealed "Project xCloud", which plans to allow people to stream their console games over the internet, with the console's processing power arriving over a network rather than living in your house.
