Xavier Rhodes ranks in top 10 of CB ranking

After a down 2018 season, Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes is still regarded as one of the better players at his position.

In a recent cornerback ranking by CBS Sports, Rhodes ranked 10th among corners in the league.

Here’s what was written about him:

After going to two Pro Bowls and earning a five-year, $70 million extension from 2016-2017, Rhodes suffered a major drop-off in 2018, posting the lowest tackle (47), pass deflection (7) and interception (1) totals of his six-year career. He remains one of the NFL’s most physically imposing CBs, however, and publicly accepted coach Mike Zimmer’s criticisms this offseason.

Zimmer has challenged Rhodes to play better in 2019, and it’s really hard to imagine him playing much worse.

In 2018, Rhodes posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 58.2, a mark that ranked 101st among cornerbacks and a 14-point drop off from the regular season.

We’ll know quickly if Rhodes has returned to form. Rhodes will go up against Julio Jones in Week 1, Davante Adams in Week 2 and Antonio Brown in Week 3.
