Reported Rangers target Xavi Simons orchestrated a stirring comeback for Paris Saint-Germain in European competition on Tuesday.
But instead of shining on the Champions League stage he was out of sight and out of mind in the UEFA Youth League.
Dutch midfielder Simons, 18, lined up for the Parisians' Under-19 side as they took on Club Brugge's academy team known as Club NXT.
Simons, a former Barcelona youngster linked with a move to Ibrox by Spanish publication Diario AS last month, took action after his side went 2-0 down.
He netted the first goal of the comeback before delivering the set-piece that would level thing up.
And in added time PSG nicked the win through Wilson Odobert's dramatic clincher, doing it all with 10 players after a red card to El Chadaille Bitshiabu.
But as a pointed reminder, the match's early afternoon finish in PSG's Stade Georges-Lefevre meaning Simons had ample time to journey the 18 miles into central Paris and to the Parc des Princes to watch the first-team take on Brugge in the Champions League.

With nothing at stake in Group A - PSG cannot catch Manchester City after a defeat at the Etihad but cannot be caught by the Belgians nor RB Leipzig - it would have been the perfect opportunity to allow Simons the chance to strut his stuff.
Of course, getting into such a star-studded squad is difficult but fellow youngsters such as Mathyas Randriamamy, 18, and Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe, 21, were in the UCL cohort.
Simons however was kept far away, and with his contract set to expire in the summer, being overlooked for a dead rubber fixture on such a stage won't have helped matters.
Meanwhile at Rangers, another big Europa League clash beckons this week in Lyon with a knockout round to come against a team - potentially Brugge - that will drop down from the elite competition.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's case to Simons may have just strengthened.
