Xande Silva's first words as striker joins Nottingham Forest from West Ham

New Nottingham Forest striker Xande Silva admitted it was an "easy decision" to join the Reds from West Ham on deadline day.

The striker was one of several signings towards the end of the transfer window with Silva, Braian Ojeda and Mohamed Drager linking up with the Reds in the final 24 hours of the transfer window.

Silva, who has represented his home country of Portugal from under-15 level to under-20, joins Chris Hughton 's side on a two-year deal at the City Ground.

"I'm very happy to be here," Silva said of his move to Trentside on the official club YouTube channel.

"It's a big club in England with a big history so it was an easy decision to come to Nottingham Forest.

"It has always been a dream to play in England. I'm here again now, for one more time.

"I hope that I can achieve my goals as a player and as a team too.

"Every player wants to play football, and I'm here to play and develop myself."

Silva's integration into the Forest squad will be made one step easier given the number of Portuguese players currently at the City Ground.

The Reds' new striker added: ""I know a few of them [Portuguese players] and play with a lot of them already - Cafu, Joao Carvalho, Tobias Figueiredo.

"I'm excited to meet them again. It will help [in settling in]. It's the same culture, they will help me grow as a player."

Silva admitted he is looking forward to playing at the City Ground with his first opportunity to wear the Garibaldi coming against Cardiff City on September 12.

He said: "Hallelujah. Because of this virus we haven't been able to play in front of fans, but I hope to play in front of the Forest fans soon."
