X-type Jaguar smashes into railings after high speed chase

A man was arrested after a Jaguar X-type led police on a high speed car chase through north Liverpool.

The chase began at around 9.15pm last night when the Jaguar failed to stop for police in the Clubmoor area of the city. Police said the Jaguar was then driven at speed.

The chase came to an end at at the junction of Richard Kelly Drive and Utting Avenue in Norris Green when the Jaguar smashed into railings. No one was injured during the incident.

A 22-year-old man from Croxteth was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. He has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

A police spokesman told the ECHO : "A man was arrested following a pursuit in Liverpool last night, Tuesday, 9 July.  The driver of a green Jaguar X-type failed to stop for police in the Clubmoor area at around 9.15pm and officers began a pursuit of the vehicle, which was driven at speed.

"The pursuit came to an end on Richard Kelly Drive near its junction with Utting Avenue when the car collided with railings. No one was injured during the incident.

"A 22-year-old man from Croxteth was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and driving without insurance and has been taken to a local police station for  questioning."
