X, Reddit outage: What to do
When platforms like X and Reddit go down, the first step is to confirm whether it’s a widespread outage or just a local issue. You can then switch to alternative apps like Telegram, Discord, or other social platforms to stay updated.
Check if it’s a real outage; Use sites like Downdetector or official status pages to confirm whether it’s a global issue or just your network.
Switch to alternative platforms : You can try Threads (Meta), Bluesky, Telegram channels
Discord communities : These often stay active when one platform goes down.
Use news websites instead of social feeds for real-time updates, rely on BBC News
Refresh network basics
Quick fixes:
Switch Wi-Fi ↔ mobile data
Restart router or device
Try VPN (if regional outage suspected)
Use RSS or newsletters
If you follow topics or creators, RSS feeds or email newsletters keep updates flowing without relying on social platforms.
Avoid repeated refresh loops
If servers are down, constant refreshing won’t help and may slow your device or app further.
Wait it out (most important)
Large-scale outages are usually resolved within minutes to a few hours.
