X-ray finds 'Ryder Pup' swallowed 26 golf balls while out on a walk

A much-loved dog needed a life-saving op after tucking into a tee-time of 26 golf balls.

Alfie, a 10-year-old giant Schnauzer, had also scoffed rubber gloves, a ball of string – and “multiple” pieces of wood.

Dad-of-two Neil Taylor, 50, had let him off his lead near a golf course as there were no golfers due to Covid-19.

Neil, who has daughters Rachel, 23, and Alice, 21, with wife Helen, 47, only found out Alfie had developed a taste for golf balls after he became poorly at his doggy day care and then vomited four balls up in their back garden last month.

The building site supervisor, of Westerhope, Newcastle, said: “He was passed out in the garden and only came to when I carried him.

“The insurance covered some of the £2,500 bill but I have paid out around £1,000... he is worth every penny.

"I always say he is my son.

“It’s lovely to have him acting like his normal, playful self again. But he’ll be in a muzzle from now on."
