X-Men Dark Phoenix: Sophie Turner joins co-stars in London to promote film

Something terrible is about to rise out of the ashes.

The upcoming culmination of the X-Men film series will show the superhero team forced to confront one of their own when Jean Grey is merged with the God-like cosmic Phoenix force and causes huge destruction wherever she goes.

With the film's close release in June, Jean's actress Sophie Turner - who recently wrapped up the story of her character Sansa Stark in the conclusion of Game of Thrones - has appeared in London dressed in gorgeous Luis Vuitton to promote the film alongside co-stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and new series addition Jessica Chastain.

McAvoy plays the role of Jean's mentor and friend Professor Charles Xavier for the fourth time, while the same is said for Fassbender as Xavier's best friend and nemesis, Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr.

Oscar-nominee Jessica Chastain appears in the film as a mysterious alien shapeshifter who is looking to manipulate Jean in her new vulnerable state.

Jean's abilities have been shown in previous trailers to spiral out of control and even take the life of a leading X-Men member.

The film is an adaptation of the Dark Phoenix saga, a classic comic book storyline for the mutant superhero team, which was also previously adapted for the divisive X-Men: The Last Stand.

The role of Jean Grey was previously played by Famke Janssen.

Dark Phoenix also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Evan Peters and more.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is released in UK cinemas on June 5, 2019.
