X Factor star Rhydian Roberts 'sick to the core' as mum is critically ill in hospital after horror fall

X Factor star Rhydian Roberts has begged fans to pray for his critically ill mum after she suffered a debilitating fall.

The 36-year-old, who came second in the 4th series of X Factor added his "sweet mum" was in critical condition.

Taking to Twitter he wrote: :"My sweet mum is in a critical condition in hospital after a severe fall. I feel sick to my core and devastated. Please pray for her, I know she’d appreciate it. Her name is Angela."

Angela Roberts never missed a live show back in 2007 and is extremely close to her son.

Fans reacted with concern, sharing their goodwill wishes.

"So very sorry your mum is hurt. You must be devastated but need to be strong for her," one wrote.

Another added: "So very sorry your mum is hurt. You must be devastated but need to be strong for her."

Former telly star Rhydian liked a string of tweets supporting his mum.

At time she told the South Wales Echo: "We are just asking the nation to let it go and move on. The competition is over.

"We give our very best to Leon as a family and look forward to Rhydian's own career developing as it should."

Rhydian last hit the news after being linked to the Roxanne Pallet punch-gate from when he was in panto with the ex CBB star.

“Rhydian was upset by the ordeal,” a theatre source said.

“He told pals he has been a victim of her exaggerated accusations too and was dreading working with her on the pantomime and because he thought it could happen again,” they added to The Sun.

“He didn’t initially know she was going to be in it when he signed up. He was scared to be in the panto with her and if she didn’t drop out, he would.”

Shortly after the allegations emerged, Welsh star Rhydian took to Twitter to urge Roxanne to get “the help she needs”.

"This story has not come directly from myself,” Rhydian said.

\"I didn’t really want to draw attention to it as I feel Roxanne has suffered enough for her actions lately and the things she accused me of are well in the past."

He added: "Time is a healer. I just hope she gets the help she needs.”

The former Celebrity Big Brother star, who has been accused of being a "compulsive liar" and "manipulating" her housemates in the wake of the 'punchgate' scandal, was due to appear alongside Rhydian in Cinderella in Chester this winter but she has since been dropped from the role.

After concerned fans tweeted him about her appearing in the panto, he replied by sharing a picture of a harness with a body camera and said: "Thank you for your concern. All is in hand."

Yesterday, Paul Holmon Associates, the producers of the show at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield, said: " Roxanne Pallett has decided to step down from her upcoming role as Cinderella in Chesterfield in order to take some time out and reflect on recent events.

"We wish Roxanne the best and will be announcing her replacement in due course."

She has also fired from her radio presenting job at Minster FM.

Rhydian spoke out after CBB fans watched Roxanne's emotional pre-recorded apology in which she admitted she's fearful of her future after being branded "the most hated girl in Britain"

Mum Angela, director of the Crossroads Caring for Carers charity in Cardiff, was forced to defend her son after he came second in the talent show.
