Scots X Factor star Nicky McDonald and his American wife Brandi were left shaken after their Florida flight had to make an emergency landing at JFK airport.
The couple were jetting off to reunite with Brandi's family, who live in Florida, when smoke filled the cabin.
An hour after Nicky shared that the couple were taking off from Boston airport, their flight was forced to make the emergency landing as panic spread among the passengers.
Taking to his Instagram story, Nicky told his 208,000 followers about the frightening experience.
Sharing video footage of fire crew members on board the plane, he wrote: "This is mad, emergency landing in JFK!!
Passengers on board the flight were seen looking around worried.
In the next post, the 25-year-old showed his followers the view from the window seat where two fire trucks could be seen.
The singer said the couple had been left shaken by the frightening experience.
He added: "Well we had an emergency landing in New York bc there were fumes in the cabin... were fine now but that was so scary."
The pair treated themselves to a huge pizza after the flight drama left them with a two hour delay at the airport.
Nicky and Brandi got together after meeting in January 2017 when Brandi was a passenger on a cruise ship where Nicky was one of the performers.

Less than a few weeks later, the pair said I do at Chatelherault Country Park in a secret ceremony which was attended by famous faces such as Kris Commons, Lisa Hague, Series 10 winner, Sam Bailey and fellow finalist, Luke Friend.
Nicky shot to fame in 2013 when he was crowned runner up on the tenth series of the X-Factor.
