X Factor star Mary Byrne has said Louis Walsh can be a “little bitchy” but is a good man.
The former Tesco worker took the talent show by storm at the height of its popularity in 2010.
She made it to the semi-final with One Direction and winner Matt Cardle.
The singer from Ballyfermot credits Walsh with helping her cope during tough times.
She said: “Louis got me through a lot of bad stuff over there when I was feeling low and missing my family, he was good to me. I can’t take that away from him.
“I hope he’s well and I hope he’s happy. I’ll always like Louis, I don’t know why.
“Maybe because he has a good heart, he can be a little bitchy sometimes but underneath it all he’s a nice guy.”
Mary, 61, has recently opened up about the toll the pandemic took on her physical and mental health as she suffered two breakdowns in the past year.
She added: “I am going to suffer with this depression for a long, long time. But I’m slowly but surely coming out of it.
“There are still going to be days where I get dark, that’s going to be like that for the rest of my life.
“But people who suffer with depression have to say themselves, ‘Yes, OK, it’s there, it’s part of me, but it doesn’t define who I am’ – and that’s what you’ve got to remember.”
