X Factor fans threaten to boycott show after Simon Cowell ignores Vinnie Jones' plea to leave

Simon Cowell was blasted by X Factor: Celebrity viewers tonight after he chose to save Vinnie Jones - despite the former footballer pleading to leave.

The judge, 60, refused to respect Vinnie's wishes as he landed in the bottom two with Kevin McHale.

After Vinnie performed a version of Galway Shawl, he told Simon, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger that he had had a "fantastic time" but that he wanted to leave.

"It's been everything I needed since my wife passed," he told them.

However Simon insisted that he still wanted to make the final decision and decided to save Kevin.

Earlier, Vinnie also admitted that he wanted to leave the show because he had a golf competition coming up.

Furious fans flocked to Twitter to lash out at the media mogul.

One tweeted: "A compete sham! @SimonCowell should of let @VinnieJones65 go with dignity after that gorgeous song from the heart! I respect Vinnie but he’s no singer #CelebrityXFactor #vinniejones."

While another commented: "I am officially never watching Xfactor again!!! @druidDUDE should not have went home over Vinnie Jones!!! And that was the worst version on that awful song that I have ever heard #CelebrityXFactor."

A third remarked: "Vinnie wanted to go! Why didn’t you let him and keep Kevin who really wants/needs it? Kevin sang his heart out #CelebrityXFactor."

Another fumed: "VINNIE LITERALLY SAID HE HAD A GOLF TOURNAMENT TO GO TO HE DOESN’T GIVE A F***, KEVIN OWNED THAT S*** AND HE WON THAT SING OFF HES THE BEST ACT IN THAT COMPETITION AND HIS ASS GOT SENT HOME. IT REALLY SHOWS THAT THE BRITISH PUBLIC ARE FUCKED #XFactorCelebrity #CelebrityXFactor."
