X Factor: Celebrity's Kevin McHale loses his voice just hours before live performance

Glee star Kevin McHale is suffering from a sinus infection and has lost his voice just before he is due to appear on X Factor : Celebrity.

The actor is due to perform tonight, and has been frantically trying to get his vocals back on point, even blowing a steamer on his neck to try to ease his symptoms.

Kevin, 31, underwent sinus surgery earlier this year following a long term problem, and this show is the first time he is singing live since then.

He posted a photo on Instagram showing him steaming his throat, with the caption: "1 night to go, steam. the X Factor."

The show's producers are reportedly worried about what to do if he cannot sing live tonight.

But a source told The Sun Online that after being on vocal rest, he is now ready to perform and give it his all despite being unwell.

"Kevin remains the true professional and is continuing to power through despite feeling under the weather", they said.

"He has been resting his voice and is all set for the weekend ahead - everyone is really looking forward to hearing his performance."

They also revealed Kevin will be singing Lizzo's Good As Hell in the show tonight, in a surprising costume.

"Kevin will take to the stage with a whole dance squad dressed in thigh-high red PVC boots - bringing 'kinky boots' to the X Factor Celebrity stage", they revealed.

Reports surfaced recently that The X Factor will no longer air on Sunday night - for the first time since 2008.

ITV bosses have decided to scrap the 8pm Sunday evening edition of the talent series in favour of TV quiz show Catchphrase - which is fronted by Stephen Mulhern - according to The Daily Star.

He will be joined by Megan McKenna, Vinnie, Jones, the ex Love Island stars, and Ricki Lake.

This is not the first change of the 2019 series of The X Factor as the latest season has had a string of major revamps.

The most surprising was that the format, hosted by Dermot O'Leary, ditched normal hopeful singers in favour of celebrities who have hopes of scooping up a record deal by impressing Simon Cowell , Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.

The X Factor: Celebrity also has been given a new theme tune and scrapped the boot camp segment.
