X Factor 2015: Announcer Peter Dickson quits role as Voiceover Man after 11 years

Voiceover Man Peter Dickson has announced he is leaving the X Factor after 11 years on the show.

Dickson, who is currently one of the most iconic TV artists in the world, has leant his booming vocal talent to the X Factor since 2004.

Fans reacted with horror to the news, suggesting that he was "irreplaceable" and that the show "would not be the same without him".

The show has undergone a major shake-up in recent months ahead of the new series, with judge Louis Walsh quitting in April, also after 11 years.

When he was asked if he was done with the show, Walsh responded: "I’ve done 11 seasons - that's a long time in television. I think they’re going to change the show and get new faces."

Presenter Dermot O’Leary has been replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, while Radio 1 Nick Grimshaw and musician Rita Ora have been brought to the judging panel alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell.

The changes made are part of Simon Cowell’s attempt to reboot the appeal of his flagging reality show, following last December’s news that ratings had fallen to an all-time low of 8.4 million viewers.
