Wythenshawe parking wars: Police tow away yet ANOTHER vehicle after drivers continue to park on pavements

Parking on the pavement is an issue that's been making residents in Wythenshawe mad for months.

Selfish drivers are being publicly shamed on a daily basis for leaving their cars with little or no room for pedestrians to get past.

School children have been forced to walk in the road, and parents with prams have vented their frustration at having to cross the road.

It's a problem causing a headache across Manchester, but it seems police in Wythenshawe are on a mission to crack down on the nuisance parking.

Last month, a Mercedes driver saw their car towed away from a street in Northenden for parking in an inconvenient spot.

The driver was also fined by police after its positioning on Lingard Road meant that school kids were forced to walk in the road.

Earlier this month, a dad from Woodhouse Park said the parking situation near his home was an accident waiting to happen.

Now, officers from GMP have removed a Vauxhall Astra parked on the pavement on Roundthorn Road in Baguley.

In a post on Facebook, GMP Wythenshawe said: "Vehicle is parked fully on the pavement which means members of the public with wheelchairs or prams will not be able to get passed [sic].

"Vehicle has been removed."

The move was congratulated by local residents who are fed up with their pavements being blocked by vehicles.

One person said: "Good, I have a disabled daughter who uses a wheelchair and this is a daily struggle."

Another wrote: "Loads of half empty car parks around there but this person must not be feeling the treacherous 50 yard walk."

Another said: "I live on this road, it's getting worse by the day.

"They have recently changed it to residents only but it doesn't stop half of them."

Last year, police warned drivers they could be fined and see their cars removed if they have blocked pavements to pram pushers and other pedestrians.
