Wynn Las Vegas to add Amazon Echo to all 4,700-plus hotel rooms

Multitasking is about to get a whole lot easier at one of Sin City's most iconic hotels.

The Wynn Las Vegas announced last week that it plans to equip each of its 4,748 hotel rooms with the Amazon Echo, a hands-free speaker that users control with only their voice.

The rollout will begin this month with the installation of Echo devices inside of the hotel's suites. Once installed, guests will be able to control a variety of different features inside of their room by issuing voice commands to Alexa, including adjusting the lighting and temperature.

The hotel said that Alexa will be fully operational in every one of its rooms by summer 2017.

At first, guests will be able to use the Echo to easily control lights, room temperature, drapery and the television. Down the road, the Wynn Las Vegas plans to introduce new features including personal assistant functions.

"As we have moved through the years, technology has always played an important part in our resorts," Wynn Resorts chairman and CEO Steve Wynn said in a statement. "The thing that Amazon has done with Alexa is quite perfect. If I have ever seen anything in my 49 years of developing resorts that has made our job of delivering a perfect experience to our guests easier and help us get to another level, it is Alexa."

Wynn described Echo as "effortlessly convenient."

Although future guests should be thrilled about the hotel's latest announcement, it might only be the second-most exciting announcement the property made this year. This past spring Wynn Resorts revealed plans for an expansion to its Las Vegas resort known as Wynn Paradise Park that would include a 38-acre lagoon featuring a beach, an island and a boardwalk.

The resort was named the Best Hotel in Las Vegas by Conde Nast Traveler readers for the 10th consecutive year in 2016.
